Cardiometabolic conditions
Some of the most common conditions in the western world include high cholesterol, PCOS, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
I approach these by identifying where the dysfunction lies and how to correct it. For example some doctors are quick to prescribe a statin drug when a patient's total cholesterol is over 200. However, it is essential to have a deeper dive into the subtypes of cholesterol.
Recent research has shown that there is a lot more than just "good" vs. "bad" cholesterol. Further testing will provide a more accurate picture of your cardiometabolic risk. Insulin resistance is also on the rise, and often goes undetected until it has progressed. Interventions early on can make a vast difference in reducing the risk of full-blown disease.
